Raycast adds full typing to its iOS keyboard, with AI tools built in

3-line summary
- Raycast’s iOS keyboard now combines full typing with built-in AI actions.
- Typing is English-only; AI and dictation require a paid Pro plan.
- Internet-connected features require Allow Full Access.
Raycast expanded its iOS keyboard into a primary typing keyboard on October 29, putting autocorrect and swipe typing alongside AI commands, dictation and saved text. The change lets people type and invoke Raycast features from the same keyboard, replacing the earlier workflow of switching to a companion keyboard when those features were needed.
AI and dictation are paid Pro features. The official web plan costs $96 billed annually, equivalent to $8 a month, and includes 500 monthly AI credits. Consumption varies by model and request. AI is excluded from the Free plan. Quick Fix also spends Raycast AI credits when it runs its correction command.
Typing currently supports English only. Users can keep their usual keyboard for other languages alongside Secondary mode. iOS displays its own keyboard in password fields and in apps that disallow third-party keyboards.
Quick Fix applies spelling and grammar corrections in place. AI Commands save reusable instructions, including writing improvements and tone changes. Each command can have its own model and creativity setting. Commands assigned to the default model follow changes to that shared setting. Existing commands can also be duplicated and their prompts edited.
Prompts can include placeholders for selected text or an argument supplied at runtime, letting one saved instruction process different inputs. Their model setting is separate from the regular AI Chat model.
Snippets replace short keywords with saved text, such as an address, a reply template or a common phrase. The official launch video identifies keyword-based expansion as new to iOS, distinct from searching for an existing snippet and inserting it. Raycast snippets also support dynamic placeholders and shared collections for teams.
Dictation initially opens Raycast because iOS keyboards lack direct microphone access. A background session stays active for five minutes by default, reducing subsequent app switches. Post-processing supports Email, Notes or custom AI Commands. The dictation guide warns that changes in iOS 26.4 can require manually swiping back to the original app after recording. Session settings range from immediate shutdown to one hour. Review mode holds the transcription before insertion.
What Full Access enables
Typing, emoji, Snippets, Quicklinks and Search work without Allow Full Access. AI commands, Quick Fix, dictation, GIF search and creating a snippet from the keyboard require it. Apple’s developer documentation says open access enables network connections and writes to the containing app’s shared storage.
Learned words stay on the device. Raycast says analytics record feature usage and settings, excluding typed content, corrections, snippets, dictation, searches and the host app.
Audio is sent to a speech-to-text partner for processing. Raycast says it does not store audio or transcripts on its servers; transcription history is saved in the local app database. Partners are contractually barred from training on that audio. Individual records or the entire local history can be deleted.
The general AI privacy policy lists retention exceptions: Mistral AI, xAI and Claude Fable 5.1 keep data for 30 days, while other Raycast-provided models use zero data retention after requests finish. With Cloud Sync enabled, synced chats and snippets are stored encrypted in Raycast’s server database, separately from local dictation history.
