From a quick question to a finished report: Claude unifies its enterprise app
3-line summary
- Anthropic made unified chat and Cowork generally available for Claude Enterprise on October 23.
- A conversation can move into cloud execution when the task needs file work.
- Existing organizations start with it off, and some security configurations remain unsupported.
A question and a report no longer need separate starting points. On October 23, Anthropic made unified chat and Cowork generally available for Claude Enterprise. Tasks needing code or files continue within the conversation and return finished work.
The merger itself began rolling out to Pro and Max on September 16. Enterprise now follows, carrying over chats, projects, connectors and skills. Work can continue across web, desktop and mobile.
Billing remains usage-based, and Anthropic warns that agentic work can consume more tokens than brief chats. New Efficient mode restricts models to Sonnet and Haiku. Organization, group and member spending limits also apply.
Existing organizations start with the feature off. Under the admin guide, an unchanged setting defaults on from November 16 when the required chat and cloud execution capabilities are enabled. Explicit on or off choices persist.
Organizations using zero data retention, the HIPAA-ready configuration or customer-managed encryption keys are not yet supported. This report checks official documents; it does not test an enterprise migration or bill.
Why it matters
AI Ping sees a reason to review access and consumption together as tool boundaries fade. The same chat window can now cover work with different token demands.
